I have been the Office Administrator at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Chicago since 1984. We have 100 attorneys and 150 support staff in the Chicago Office, with over 1,000 attorneys worldwide. My primary responsibilities are the staffing and development of support staff in Chicago. I received my undergraduate degree from Northwestern University (at night) in Personnel Administration and my master's degree (at night) from Loyola University of Chicago in Industrial Relations.
For the past twenty years I have been interested in promoting the employment of people with disabilities, and currently serve on the Advisory Board and Business Team for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Recently, I have gotten involved with the Anixter Center and Chicago Hearing Society, providing job counseling and conducting mock interviews "on-site" for job-ready client referrals. I'm taking some graduate courses at National Louis, and am in the process of learning American Sign Language. I'm the newsletter editor for the Chicago Association of Legal Administrators, and write a humor column entitled "Tongue-in-Cheek" about working in a law firm environment.
My husband, Paul, is an attorney. We live in Chicago, and have a weekend farm in Indiana, where we "walk the property line" with our two dogs, collect and refinish antiques, have a huge vegetable garden in summer and cross-country ski in winter.
